A commitment to the highest levels of customer service has seen Renault Wirral receive an international award from Renault.

The Renault Global Quality Award is awarded every year by the manufacturer to recognise the dealers in its national network who provide the best customer service and commit to the highest standards in quality.

Four Renault dealerships in the UK have received the Global Quality award this year, including Renault Wirral, which were all recognised for their ongoing commitment to customer service.

Regional manager Barry Jones attended the Renault Global Quality Award gala presentation event in Paris. His colleague Mark Whitaker who is general manager at Renault Wirral, was then presented with a winner's plaque and a financial reward for a dealer team night out by Mark Crockett, Renault UK's Director, Services and Quality, who visited the showroom on Woodchurch, Prenton, this week in order to personally congratulate the dealership staff and to present them with their award.

Mr Jones said: "The whole team here works extremely hard ensuring that our customers receive the very best service, and we're thrilled to receive the Renault Global Quality Award which recognises our consistently high standards of customer service across sales and aftersales and also rewards the whole team's contribution to our performance and results."

Four windswept employees from Renault Wirral raised more than £800 for charity after battling against the elements at the annual Wirral Coastal Walk.

The blustery weather failed to stop Shelly McDonald, Anita Sheard, Carole Burns and Steve Poucey from taking part in the 15-mile fundraising walk around the borough’s coastline which attracted thousands of people for the 25th year running. Carole, sales administrator at the dual dealership on Woodchurch Road, Prenton, and Anita and Shelly, who both work in the service departments, together with their friend Dawn raised £390 for the Claire House Children Hospice in Clatterbridge. Steve, who works as a technician along with his wife, Angie, raised just over £400 for St Johns Hospice in Wirral.

The walk started at Seacombe Ferry and took in New Brighton, Leasowe, Meols, Hoylake, West Kirby and Caldy before finishing at Thurstaston Country Park. Renault Wirral General Manager Mark Whitaker said: "I’ve very proud of the staff members who took part in the Wirral Coast Walk. They tell me it was very gruelling because of the strong winds but worth it for such deserving causes."

Rugby League fan Mark Whitaker has taken over as the new general manager at Renault Liverpool and Renault Wirral.

Mark has worked for Renault for 13 years after joining the company in 1998 as a field-based accountant.

He became the general manager of Renault Leeds in 2003 before moving to Renault Leicester 12 months later.

Mark spent the next seven years at the Midlands dealership which became Branch of the Year in 2005.

When the 43-year-old married father of two is not at work, he follows Rugby League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, and also enjoys MOTO GP, travelling abroad at least once a year to watch one of the races.

On his appointment as general manager of both Renault Liverpool, based in Sefton Street, Toxteth and Renault Wirral, on Woodchurch Road, Prenton, Mark said: "I hope to bring my experience to both dealerships and help them go from strength to strength. It's an exciting challenge and one I am very much looking forward to."
